In this day and age we are often confronted by adversity. Both Moms and Dads are out in the workforce. It seems that families can no longer get by on one income. We try our hardest to provide for our family’s needs. Sometimes we all fall a little short. In this age of subsidies and government handouts it is far too easy for us to forget about those in need. We rely on programs and entities to handle the issue. We have gone the way of bureaucratic handouts instead of being a good neighbor that offers up a helping hand. And I want to tell you that there are folks in Region 8 that need a helping hand. That’s why I would like to put a little spotlight on an organization up in Rector. Now, that is my hometown, and I am very proud of that, but its not the reason I want to single them out. You see, a group of folks up there saw that there was a need. A need to help kids be better students. A need to make them successful in life. They raise what funds they can and use them to help buy eyeglasses, dental care, school supplies, and even sending kids on field trips. The Helping Hands foundation doesn’t have a lot of bureaucracy about it. The folks that serve don’t do it for glory. They do it to for A Better Region 8. Now I know that there are more unsung heroes out there that are doing the same types of things. Let me know about them and I will gladly share their successes as well. But for now I would like to recognize the Helping Hands foundation and say thank you for making this A Better Region 8.
A BETTER REGION 8: HELPING HANDS
I am very interested in this sphere and reading this post I have known many new things, which I have not known before. Thanks for publishing this great article here.

Not only has the goverment forgotten about so many children in this nation, but there are those who the state and nation are lettin slip through the cracks. In November of last year my husband recieved his disability which I have been disabled for several years because of my diabities and my heart. Well the state of Arkansas decided that because he was now disabled that I must not need my medicaid any more. I have not been able to take all of my medications or go to the doctor in almost a year now. I have had at least two heartattacks and now am facing surgery to unblock my right carotid artery that is completely blocked off. We live apart and have a ten year old child. I live on 262 dollars a month. Where does the state think I will come up with the money to pay for the meds that I need now or the surgery. Something for the goverment to think about. Not that I think they care.
