Every year during the holidays, hundreds of Region 8 families are separated from their loved ones serving our country. And because of that we have a long standing tradition here at the station of sharing greetings from the troops- those video Christmas cards sent back from our men and women stationed overseas. This year we’re adding a new twist to the tradition. By using the internet we are going to give our troops in the field a little bit of home for the holidays. This weekend we’re holding what we’re calling Operation Holiday Hero in the Mall at Turtle Creek. On Friday night and Saturday from 10 until 2, we’ll be taping your greetings to stream online to Region 8 soldiers and sailors. If you don’t want to be on camera, don’t worry, EAST Lab Students from Nettleton, Brookland, and Valley View will be on hand to help get your written message to the troops. Whether you have a loved one in the military or not, our troops need to know we appreciate the quiet sacrifices they and their families make on a daily basis, so that we might enjoy the holidays in peace with our own families. Make the time to be a Holiday Hero this weekend. It will make this a Better Region 8.
